The government has announced an extension to the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday this year.
In a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, an extra day of holiday on April 20 was approved.
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain announced the date at a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday.
According to the government holiday calendar, April 19 is a holiday for the holy Shab-e-Qadr.
Government offices will remain closed from April 19-23 for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, in the case of a 29-day Ramadan month.
In the event of Eid falling after a 30-day Ramadan month, the holiday will be extended until April 24.
