EC wraps up dialogue today with AL, JP talks

The Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to hold a dialogue with the ruling Awami League (AL) and Jatiya Party (JaPa) today.

The ongoing dialogue of the EC with the political parties on the occasion of the forthcoming 12th national elections will end today after holding a dialogue with the ruling and opposition parties.

On the same day, the Jatiya Party led by its Chairman, GM Quader, will hold a dialogue with the EC from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Later, the Awami League delegation will participate in the dialogue at the Election Commission Office under the leadership of the party's General Secretary, Obaidul Quader, at 3:00 pm.

Prior to the dialogue, the Awami League will submit the audit report for the 2021 fiscal year at the EC office at 10:00 a.m.

The EC has announced a schedule to hold a series of dialogues with 39 registered political parties at its office in the capital to seek recommendations on how to conduct the next national polls in a free and fair manner.

According to the schedule, the EC started talks on July 17th. As of Thursday, the EC has met delegates from 26 parties.

But, the BNP and eight other political parties that abstained from joining the talks are the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD Rab), Bangladesh Kalyan Party, Bangladesh Muslim League (BML), Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Islami Andolan Bangladesh and Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP).

Besides, the two political parties sought more time to participate in the dialogue.
