The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) decided to introduce teaching evaluation system in the university.

The students will do this assessment in the light of five indicators and corresponding sub-indicators.

This decision was taken in a meeting of the Syndicate held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Sunday with the university Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md  Akhtaruzzaman in the chair, read a DU press release on Tuesday.

 However, special seminars and workshops will be organised for teachers and students to give them idea about the parameters of the teaching evaluation.

"The teaching evaluation programme will play a role in improving the overall quality of education and achieving professional skills of teachers," read the press release.

Besides, another decision was also taken to establish Dhaka University Nanotechnology Center (DUNC) with the aim of taking science, technology, research and innovation of the country to a unique height in the era of fourth industrial revolution and nanotechnology. It is an inter-academic, inclusive specialised research institute.

Besides, non-DU students will be allowed to take admission in the master's programmes of the university in limited seats through admission test from the academic year 2022-2023.

In this case, the students should have honours degree from any public university or UGC approved university.

"This decision was taken to create inter-academic, inclusive and lifelong learning opportunities. The departments/institutes will take necessary initiatives in this regard," the press release added.
