The Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday issued a letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) not to allow political parties to hold any kind of rallies on the occasion of the 12th National elections.
Habibul Hasan, Senior Assistant Secretary of Public Security Division of the home ministry, has sent this letter to the IGP in this regard.
It is said that the polling for the 12th National Parliament elections will be held on January 7 next year.
Campaigning of candidates will begin from December 18.
The Election Commission (EC) has taken necessary measures to prevent anyone from accepting and implementing any type of meeting, assembly or any other type of political programs that may obstruct the election activities or discourage the voters from voting from December 18 till the end of the polling.
In this situation, it is requested to take necessary measures to prevent everyone from accepting and implementing any other type of meeting, assembly or any other type of political programmes except election campaign from December 18 till the end of the polling.
