Members of Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) on Wednesday night arrested a fugitive war criminal from Dhaka's Keraniganj area.
Arrested convict Md Abdul Khaleq Talukder, 73, had been absconding for eight years after filing a war crimes case for crimes against humanity during the Liberation war.
Superintendent of ATU police Mohammad Aslam Khan said,"On secret information, one of our team conducted a drive in the area and arrested Khaleq from there."
Khaleq Talukder, from Netrakona Purbadhala upazila, went into hiding when the case was filed. International Crimes Tribunal-1 on March 28, 2019, pronounced the verdict in absence of Khaleq after seven allegation including murder were proved against him and others.
