A complaint has been filed against former mayor Jahangir Alam’s mother Zayeda Khatun with Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for concealing information about assets worth Tk 4.66 crore.
Gono Front-backed mayoral candidate Atiqul Islam lodged the complaint with ACC’s Gazipur office on Sunday.
The complaint mentioned that independent candidate Zayeda Khatun has Tk 4.66 crore, according to the information obtained from the website of the Bangladesh Election Commission. It also shows that in the income tax return of the 2022-23 tax year filed with the election affidavit of Zayda Khatun, she has shown Tk 4.66 crore as business capital. However, Zayeda Khatun did not mention where her money is kept, where it is invested, or how it is managed in the election affidavit.
It is also mentioned in the complaint that Zayeda Khatun has concealed the information of assets in the election affidavit.
About the complaint, deputy director of Gazipur integrated district office Mozahar Ali said, “We have received a complaint. Further action has been taken according to the law of the ACC in this regard.”
