A man and his wife were killed being crushed by a bus at Dhamrai upazila, on the outskirt of Dhaka, on Wednesday while going to their workplace.
The deceased was Israfil Hossain, 30, and his wife Swapna Akter, 25, residents of Sholdhan village in the upazila. They worked at Graphics Textile in the area.
Police said a bus of Zaman Paribahan crushed the couple under its wheels on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Srirampur area at about 7:30 am when they were going to their workplace on a bicycle, leaving them dead on the spot.
On information, firefighters and police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, said Golora Highway Police Station sub-inspector Shah Alam.
Police detained the bus, however, the driver managed to flee the scene.
Legal steps in this regard are under process, he added.
