On the auspicious occasion of the founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami League, Bangabandhu Parishad President (Acting) Professor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique and General Secretary Professor ABM Farooq issued a joint statement today, conveying their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the party.

In their joint statement, the Bangabandhu Parishad leaders emphasized the significance of this special day, highlighting the remarkable journey of Bangladesh Awami League from its inception on June 23, 1949, to the present day. They acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who led the nation through the Great Liberation War and presented the people with an independent country in 1971. They also underscored the historical events leading up to the formation of Bangladesh, including the student protest and general strike on March 11, 1948, which demanded recognition of Bengali language as one of the national languages of Pakistan.

The joint statement commended Bangabandhu's tireless efforts in nurturing and organizing the party, which has transformed the Awami League into a formidable political organization across Bangladesh today. It recognized Bangabandhu's leadership in uniting the Bengali nation through the influential 6-point movement and mass uprising of 1969, which ultimately established him as the undisputed leader of the Bengalis and paved the way for the 1970 elections.

On this momentous day, the Bangabandhu Parishad paid deep respects to the memory of the Father of the Nation. They extended their sincere congratulations and best wishes to the current President of Bangladesh Awami League and Honorable Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, as well as the leaders, members, supporters, and well-wishers of Awami League at various levels across the country and abroad.

Furthermore, on this historic date of June 23, the Bangabandhu Parishad urged the people of Bangladesh to commit themselves to the vision of building a 'Smart Bangladesh,' a realization of Bangabandhu's dream of Sonar Bangla. They called for unity and emphasized the importance of following the leadership of Sheikh Hasina in advancing the nation towards this goal.

As the founding anniversary celebrations continue, Bangladesh Awami League and its supporters across the nation are expected to commemorate this significant milestone, reflecting on the party's rich history and renewing their commitment to the principles and objectives envisioned by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
