Bangladesh Nationalist party (BNP) will hold its rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on Monday (31 July) protesting against what the party said was the oppression of opposition leaders and activists during their Saturday's sit-in programme at different entry points of the capital.
The party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will present there as chief guest.
On Sunday night, Mirza Fakhrul said, "We announced the public rallies across the country on Monday protesting the oppression on our leaders and activists in the capital."
The party will hold the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan at 3pm
Meanwhile, ruling Awami League men are on alert centering the BNP's rally.
Proloy Samaddar Bappi, office secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North AL, said, "We postponed our Monday's peace rally at Agargaon trade fair ground. But our party leaders and activists will be on alert.
