BNP leader AFM Kamal stabbed dead inside car in Sylhet, one detained

BNP leader AFM Kamal has been stabbed to death by unidentified assailants in Sylhet's Amberkhana area.

AFM Kamal was a former health affairs secretary of Sylhet district BNP and publicity secretary of Sylhet Chhatra Dal.

Sylhet Airport Police Station OC Mainul Zakir said the assailants attacked Kamal near Amberkhana Boro Bazar around 9pm when he was sitting inside his private car. Suddenly the gang, riding on motorcycles, started stabbing and fled the scene.

Critically injured BNP leader was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Kamal's body has been kept at the hospital morgue.

Police, however, conducted a raid and detained a Chhatra Dal leader named Raju on suspicion of involvement in the incident. He is being interrogated, and efforts are underway to find others who are involved in the killing, according to OC Mainul.
