Bangladesh women's team emerged Group D champions to reach the 2nd round of the AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers eliminating hosts Singapore by 3-0 goals in a do or die round-1 match at the Jalan Besar Stadium, Kallang in Singapore on Sunday (April 30).
In the day's must-win match, Bangladesh dominated the first half by 1-0 goal in front of some 5,000 capacity crowd at the stadium, most of which were enthusiastic Bangladeshi fans.
Striker Sauravi Akanda Prity (No-20) scored twice for Bangladesh in the 21st and 55th minutes respectively, both from penalties (2-0) while another forward Sultana Akter netted the other goal for the winners in the 62nd minute (3-0).
Sauravi Akanda Prity also scored a goal in Bangladesh's 6-0 goals victory over Turkmenistan in the opening group match.
Hosts Singapore, which needed just a draw in the day's match against Bangladesh to be the group champions, but were eliminated from the meet after suffering a huge defeat.
Earlier, Bangladesh team made a flying start in the AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers outplaying Turkmenistan by 6-0 goals last Wednesday while hosts Singapore enjoyed upper hand crushing Turkmenistan by 7-0 goals last Friday.
Only the champion teams of the eight Asian groups are entitled to qualify for the 2nd round of the meet to be held in September 16-24 next.
Later, four top teams from the 2nd round will earn the rights to play in the eight-team final round of the 2024 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup to be held in Indonesia next year.
Hosts Indonesia and the top three teams of the 2019 tournament---champions Japan, runners-up North Korea and 3rd ranked China will directly play in the eight-team final round of the meet in Indonesia next year.
