Bangabandhu’s killers cannot hide if they are alive, says Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an event at Akhaura railway station in Brahmanbaria on the occasion of National Mourning Day.
Five convicts were hanged on January 27, 2010, while Abdul Aziz Pasha, who was hiding in Zimbabwe, died there, he said.
“Fugitive Noor Chowdhury and Rashed Chowdhury are in the USA. The government repeatedly asked the US government to extradite them, cancelling the political asylum,” he added.
“If the BNP leaders had not celebrated false birthday on August 15 and had made a little effort to bring these fugitives back, the work would have been much easier for us,” Anisul Huq said, adding: “Instead of doing that, BNP government and Ershad government gave jobs to these killers abroad.”
Regarding the situation of the country, the minister said: “The whole world is going through difficult times. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina understands the suffering of the people of Bangladesh. As a result, we are trying our best to ease the suffering of the people.”
On the occasion of National Day of Mourning, the Upazila Awami League organized discussion meetings, milad and dua mahfil.
Prayers were also offered seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.
