A Chapainawabganj court on Sunday afternoon sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment in a drugs case here. The convicted person was Md. Morsalin alias Apel, 30, son of Putu Mia of Rohonpur Madrashapara under Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
Senior District and Sessions Judge of Chapainawabganj Md. Adeeb Ali gave this verdict in presence of the convict. The court also fined him Taka 50,000, in default, he will have to suffer two-year more in jail.The prosecution story, in brief, is that an operation team of the RAB-5 from
Chapainawabganj camp conducted a raid in Chowhodditola area under the municipality on May 17, 2020 and arrested Morsalin with 1.9 kilograms of heroin.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Zohurul Islam of RAB-5 filed a case in this connection against Morsalin on the same day. Investigating Officer (IO) of the case SI Md. Osman Gani of Chapainawabganj sadar thana submitted chargesheet against him to the court on June 12, 2020.After hearing the witnesses, the court handed down the punishment.
