At least five persons were killed after a truck crashed an auto-rickshaw at Khetlal upazila in Joypurhat district on Monday.
The accident occurred around 11am at Malipara area in the upazila that also left one injured.
The deceased were auto-rickshaw driver Amjad Hossain, 55, passengers Nafiz Islam, 21, Shanaj Parvin, 45, Sirajul Islam, 60, ; and Shahinur Begum, 38.
Eyewitnesses said a truck heading towards Joypurhat from Khetlal crashed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from opposite direction in Malipara area, leaving two dead on the spot and four others injured.
Later, two died at Upazila Health Complex, while another one died at Joypurhat Adhunik Hospital.
Police have able to seize the truck but the driver managed to flee away, said Khetlal Police Sation OC Rajibul Islam.
