Meanwhile, a US delegation visited Balukhali Rohingya Camp at Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar on Wednesday. The delegation arrived at Cox's Bazar Airport at 8:45am.
The US delegation included US Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya, US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu and Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia, USAID, Anjali Kaur.
Senior officials of US Embassy in Dhaka accompanied the delegation during the visit.
At that time, Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman and the district administration officials welcomed the delegation at the airport.
Then the US delegation went Balukhali Rohingya Camp No. 9 and then visited the registration centre of the UNHCR.
Apart from visiting the activities of different international agencies, the delegation exchanged views with Rohingya community leaders, imams, women and children.
During the visit, US Under Secretary Uzra Zeya distribuyed food and medicine among women and children.
After holding a meeting with government officials and aid workers at the UNHCR office in Cox's Bazar, the US delegation is expected to return to Dhaka in the afternoon.
Uzra Zeya arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday (July 11) evening on a four-day visit to Bangladesh. Following the announcement of new US visa policy on Bangladesh, it is the first Bangladesh visit by a senior American official.
