US Senate community honors special tribute to PM sheikh hasina

The Michigan Senate Committee Honors Sheikh Hasina and 17 Others for their Contribution to Women Empowerment.

On the occasion of International Women's Day-2023, the Michigan Senate Committee of the United States gave special tributes to Sheikh Hasina, the visionary daughter of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and 17 other important people of the state for their outstanding contribution to the empowerment of women. The award ceremony was held in an emergency meeting in Lensing, the capital of Michigan state, on Friday (March 10) at noon.

The award was given in coordination with the Women's Empowerment Seminar organized by the Bangabandhu Commission. Dr. Rabbi Alam, the founder of the United States Bangabandhu Commission and President of the United States Bangabandhu Council, and Minhaj Russell Chowdhury, the joint general secretary of the concerned council, accepted these rare honors on behalf of the recipients.

Apart from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the other recipients of honors are Speaker of National Assembly Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Deputy Leader of National Assembly Matia Chowdhury, Education Minister Dipu Moni, and several others who have contributed to the empowerment of women in Bangladesh.

The news of the prime minister Sheikh Hasina's honor has already been widely known, and the expatriate Bangladeshis of Michigan have been invited to celebrate the occasion. In this month, a delegation led by Dr. Rabbi Alam will present a formal award letter to Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The award ceremony was attended by Bangabandhu Commission and MTV US Country Director Dr. Md. Abu Bakar Siddique (Dr. Dipu Siddiqui), Bangladesh commissioner M.A Masum Khan, Engineer Ashraful Alam Tamal, Kabir Hossain, Shafiul Azam Polin, Ambassador of Bangladesh from Spain Sarwar Mahmud, General Secretary of Spain Awami League Rizvi Alam, President of Florida Bangabandhu Parishad from America, Dr. Ismat Parveen, Joint Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad from New York, Nurunnahar Alam, President of Sheikh Russel Parishad from Saudi Arabia, Awlad Hossain, and central leaders of Bangabandhu Commission's International Promotion Cell who joined the session through Zoom webinar and celebrated this rare honor session.

Bangabandhu Commission and US Honor Several Organizations for Their Contribution to Democracy in Bangladesh-the Bangabandhu Commission in collaboration with the United States has awarded special honors to prominent individuals and institutions of Bangladesh for their contribution to the institutionalization of democracy in the country. The National Election Monitoring Council (JANIPOP), Bangladesh Bharat Maitri Samiti has given special honors to several organizations for their intellectual contribution to the promotion and strengthening of democracy in Bangladesh.

The awards were presented by Dr. Rabbi Alam, the founder of the United States Bangabandhu Commission, and other dignitaries. The recipients expressed their gratitude for the recognition and pledged to continue working towards strengthening democracy in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile special honors has been widely appreciated by the people of Bangladesh and is expected to encourage more organizations and individuals to work towards promoting and strengthening democracy in the country.
