Three Teenagers Handed Over to Police for Proposing at School; Two Female Students Expelled
Bangladesh
Three teenagers were handed over to the police after allegedly proposing to two female students on a school campus in Senbagh, Noakhali. In the same incident, the school authorities expelled two female students on charges of violating school discipline.

The incident took place at around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday (June 17) at Chandpur Adarsha High School in Kadra Union of Senbagh Upazila.

The three teenagers handed over to the police were identified as Mehedi Hasan Dulal (18), son of Md. Soleman; Abu Yusuf Fahim (18), son of Nuruzzaman, both residents of Khalifa Para in Kadra Union; and Mahfuzul Islam (18), son of Shahidul Islam of Batania Mizi Bari in Ward No. 1 of Senbagh Municipality.

The two expelled students, Samita Islam (14) and Sumaiya Akter Priti (14), are eighth-grade students of Chandpur Adarsha High School.

According to school and local sources, Dulal, Fahim, and Mahfuzul entered the school campus at around 9:45 a.m. They allegedly gave chocolates bearing the words “I Love You” to the two female students. Other students noticed the incident and detained the three teenagers along with the two girls before taking them to the head teacher’s office.

The head teacher questioned them and asked for their parents’ contact numbers in an attempt to resolve the matter through their guardians. However, they reportedly refused to provide the numbers. The school authorities then handed the three teenagers over to the police and expelled the two students.

Head teacher Mukhtar Hossain Iqbal said that the students were brought to his office after being detained by other students. He added that he had wanted to discuss the matter with their guardians but was unable to do so because they refused to provide contact information. He further stated that the three outsiders were handed over to the police, while the two female students were temporarily expelled for violating school discipline.

He also expressed concern that many students in the area spend time loitering at shops until late at night, and that some have become involved with drugs. He emphasized the need for greater parental awareness.

Abdus Salam, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Senbagh Police Station, said that the individuals had been detained at the school before police brought them to the station. He added that the matter had been reported to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), and further legal action would be taken in accordance with instructions from higher authorities.
