Urging opposition party BNP to join to the next national elections, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said that there would be a game and it would be played in the field of politics.

He said, “The game would be played in the field of election.  Come and join in the game. Join in the game of election and politics.”

The AL general secretary made this remarks on Saturday at a discussion marking the imprisonment day of the party’s president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dhaka city south and north units of Awami League organized the discussion at the party’s central office in Dhaka.

Responding to BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s remarks that siren of the fall of the government is ringing, AL general secretary said, “Where did you hear the bell? You might hear the sirens when the car drives on the road. It is not the siren of the fall of the government.”

He further said, “You would hear the siren. Certainly you would hear it. But that siren is your (BNP) farewell siren. Negative politics has made you irrelevant. The farewell bell is ringing for you.”

Highlighting on the global situation to his party leaders and workers, the Awami League general secretary said, “This is a bad time, risky time. At this time there is no alternative to unity. If everyone is united, no one can do anything.”

Obaidul Quader said, “Awami League workers should be alert and cautious. Daughter’s of Bangabandhu is passing through a tough struggle with big challenges.”

Fuel prices continue to rise due to effect of war across the world, said Quader adding that “Inflation is at an all time high level. Think not about Sri Lanka. Inflation is also increasing in England and America. Bangladesh has to advance considering this difficult situation.”

Dhaka city south Awami League president Abu Ahmed Mannafi presided over the discussion where Awami League presidium members Matia Chowdhury, advocate Kamrul Islam and joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif spoke, among others.
