Integrating values with science is essential, emphasized  Architect Yafes Osman,the esteemed Science and Technology Minister, Architect Yafes Osman, recently addressed a gathering of students, urging them to embrace knowledge and science as a means to elevate themselves. He highlighted the importance of equitable advancement for all, irrespective of gender, and stressed that Bangladesh's progress, achieved at the cost of many lives, needs to continue. Recognizing the tandem progression of science and development, he underscored the need to imbue science with values for its benefits to truly materialize.

Osman's remarks were delivered on September 21, 2022, during a speech at the National Science and Technology Museum's biodiversity gallery. He emphasized that alongside the advancement of science, fostering values is imperative. Without ethical considerations, the advantages of science and technology remain elusive.

Architect and poet Yafes Osman, a revered figure known for his integrity among the members of Bangladesh's Council of Ministers, was the speaker of these wise words. His lineage is rooted in literary brilliance, as he is the son of the nation's poet, Shaukat Osman. Notably, his poetic skills complement his scientific acumen. His rhythmic verses often grace the meetings of the Bangladesh Council of Ministers, a testament to his multi-faceted talents.

Yeafesh Osman was born in Chittagong on May 1, 1946. He is the Son of prominent litterateur Shawkat Osman. He studied architecture in the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology. 

Yeafesh Osman began his professional career as an Architect in Housing & Settlement Department, Government of Bangladesh, where he served from May 1972 to April 1974. Before that he worked as a junior Architect under Dr. F.R. Khan from October 1970 to April 1972. 

He was then elected as Vice President of the Engineering University Central Student's Union in 1970.

Afterwards, he joined Bangladesh Awami League and became Science and Technology Secretary of he party.

He was the Founder General Secretary of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh. He served as the Managing Director of Prokalpa Upadeshta Limited, a reputed Architecture & Engineering Consultancy Firm, during his professional practice.

Yeafesh Osman was entrusted with the charge of the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology as a State Minister on 6th January, 2009. He has again been appointed
as the State Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology on 12 January, 2014. On July 14, 2015 he took oath as the Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Osman's contributions to the liberation war are etched into history, leaving an indelible mark. Beyond his political responsibilities, he's a prominent student leader as the Vice President of the Student Council at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
