Special International Seminar on Women's Empowerment Held at National Press Club

On March 23, 2023, a special international seminar on women's empowerment was held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., under the joint initiative of the United States Bangabandhu Commission and the United Nations Special Commission on Women CSW 67. The seminar aimed to discuss and exchange ideas on ways to empower women and promote gender equality globally.

The seminar was inaugurated by the Bangladesh Commissioner of Bangabandhu Commission MD Al Masum Khan and Bangladesh Director Dr. Md. Abu Bakar Siddique (Dipu Siddiqui) The chief guest was the central leader of the United States Diaspora Democratic Party and former US military officer MD Rabbi Alam. Several special guests were present, including Health and Population Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr. Rokeya Sultana, MP Rabeya Alim, Joint General Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad Dr. Sheikh Abdullah Al Mamun, and Vice President of United States Bangabandhu Parishad Dharmendra Bhikkhuq. Women representatives from different countries around the world were connected in the seminar, and various other officials and representatives were present virtually.



The seminar was a significant achievement for the Bangladesh government, state, and nation in the international arena. On March 7, 2023, the Michigan Senate awarded special honor certificates to 17 individuals and organizations, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Rapid Action Battalion. MD Rabbi Alam received the certificates on behalf of the Prime Minister and RAB.

Congress member Haley Stevens coordinated this seminar, and Chief of Staff Bill Darek and Waite Ludman wished success to the seminar during the virtual event. Dr. Rabbi Alam thanked the United States Congress and the Michigan Senate in his chief guest address and presented the congressional record in front of media journalists and political leaders of Bangladesh.

The seminar was closed with remarks from various presenters and participants, including MD Rizvi Alam, note presenter Professor PC Sarkar, Dr. Arun Kumar Goswami, and Prof. GM Maniruzzaman Kajal. The seminar was a significant step towards achieving gender equality and women's empowerment worldwide.
