Mohammed Aminur Rashid was born on 23 January 1958 in Cumilla District in a respected Muslim family. He is the son of Ali Mia and Amena Begum. He is a distinguished Bangladeshi politician, industrialist, and exporter who has established himself nationally through significant contributions to industry, trade, agriculture, and state governance. With a blend of business acumen, visionary leadership, and social responsibility, he is recognized as a unique and influential personality.
He has long been associated with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP. He is known as a dedicated and capable organizer in the party. He is currently serving as a Member of the Chairperson’s Advisory Council of BNP. Previously he served as Member of the National Executive Committee from 2001 to 2009, Joint Secretary for Agriculture Affairs from 2010 to 2016 and Relief and Rehabilitation Affairs Secretary from 2016 to 2025. He also served as Convener (2022–2025) and General Secretary (2009–2022) of Cumilla South District BNP. He was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Cumilla-9 (Sadar South–Lalmai Upazila) constituency in the 6th National Parliamentary Election. He also contested in 2008 and 2018 National Parliamentary Elections from Cumilla-6 (Cumilla City, Adarsha Sadar and Sadar Dakshin) constituency as a BNP nominated candidate. During his academic career, he demonstrated perseverance and creativity. In recognition of his experience and competence in governance, Mohammed Aminur Rashid has been entrusted with important ministerial responsibilities. He is serving as Minister of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock and Ministry of Agriculture.
He is one of the pioneering entrepreneurs in the footwear industries of Bangladesh. He served as the Chairman of Lalmai Group. Under his leadership, the group had not only met domestic market demands but also established a strong presence in the international markets. In recognition of outstanding contributions to exports, his enterprises received the National Export Trophy (Gold and Silver) 12 times and he had been nominated as a Commercially Important Person (CIP) 13 times. Additionally, his companies have been recognized four times as among the country’s top taxpayers, reflecting his business excellence and commitment to transparency. He served as Managing Director and Director of Lalmai Footwear Limited, Arku Industries Manufacturing Limited, Baby Nutrition Limited, Lalmai Food Products, Organic Nutrition
Limited (Functional Food) and Arku Foods Limited. His investments in the food and nutrition sectors are playing a significant role in ensuring safe and healthy food production in Bangladesh.
Mohammed Aminur Rashid has also made notable contributions to social welfare and women’s education. The Barapara Amena Begum Girls’ High School, established by him in Sadar South Upazila, Cumilla, is playing an important role in promoting women’s education in the region.
To promote export trade he has traveled extensively to the United Kingdom, the United States, China, Japan as well as various countries in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. By participating in international conferences, seminars, trade fairs, and investment summits, he has actively promoted Bangladeshi products in global markets.
He is married to Musammat Tahmina Akter. They are blessed with two sons named Iftekhar Rashid and Enayet Rashid.
