Six awarded death penalty for killing child in Cox's Bazar

A court on Wednesday sentenced six people to death for killing a child named Ali Ullah Alo at Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar district in 2011.

The district and sessions judge Mohammad Ismail handed down the verdict at 5:40 pm.

The condemned convicts are Sumon Miah, Yasin Prokash Rayhan, Md Yakub, Ishaq Prokash Kalu, Nazrul Islam and Syedul Amin Prokash Lombaiya.

Besides, Muhib Ullah and Didar Miah were acquitted as the allegations brought against them were not proven.

Advocate Faridul Alam, public prosecutor of the court, confirmed the information.

According to the prosecution, Alo was killed by some hired killers on September 7, 2011.

Later, victim's father Md Abdullah filed a murder case.

Abdullah is finance secretary of Cox's Bazar unit BNP.

He alleged that political rivals killed his son by the hired killers.

Abdullah is not satisfied as the masterminds of the murder were not convicted.
