Seven people, including three members of a family, were killed as bus hit a battery-run autorickshaw in Jashore town on Friday.
The accident took place in Tentultala area on Jashore-Magura highway around 7:30 pm.
Of the deceased, five were identified as autorickshaw driver Imran Hossain, 27, son of Saiful of Sultanpur area of Jashore Sadar; Hossain, 2, Hussain, 2, Khadija, 7, children of Helal; and Fahima Khatun, 30, wife of Babul Munsi, of Jadavpur area.
Details of the two others deceased could not be known.
One trader Jahangir Hossain said seven passengers were going to Lebutala market by an autorickshaw. A bus hit the vehicle from behind when it was getting down on a bypass road in Tentultala area, leaving six passengers of the autorickshaw dead on the spot.
Another passenger died while receiving treatment in a hospital.
Being informed, members of police and Fire Service rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.
The bodies were sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue.
Additional Superintendent of Police Belal Hossain said that seven people, including the autorickshaw driver, have been killed in the road accident.
Police seized the bus and autorickshaw, he added.
