A court in Dhaka on Thursday framed charges against seven BNP leaders and activists, including the party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and joint secretary general Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, in police constable Shamim murder case.
The three other accused are BNP activists Abdus Sattar, Shah Alam, Anwar Hossain Tipu and Alfas ails Abbas.
Dhaka's Additional 4th Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court acting Judge Bilkis Akter formed the charges rejecting their acquittal petition.
Rizvi's lawyer Sayed Jaynal Abedin Mejbah confirmed this.
Police constable Shamim was killed in a bomb explosion at a police van during BNP-Jamaat procession in Ramna Police Station area on January 17, 2015. The next day, SI Shafiqul Islam filed the case with the police station in this connection.
After investigation, CID's police inspector Md Ali Akkas submitted the chargesheet of the case on July 14, 2016.
