A court in Dhaka on Tuesday set May 21 for recording deposition of the witnesses against BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman in a graft case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Asaduzzaman fixed the new date following a time petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as there was no witness in the court today.
The ACC lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajol confirmed the matter to media.
Earlier on April 13, the same court ordered for charge framing in the case and fixed today for taking deposition.
Tarique Rahman and his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, who are now staying in London, were declared 'fugitives' on June 25, 2022, in the graft case filed by the ACC with the Kafrul Police Station on September 26, 2007. The case was filed for amassing properties worth Taka 4,81,53,561 through illegal means and concealed information in wealth statements.
Tarique Rahman, Dr Zubaida and Dr Zubaida's mother Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu were made accused in the case.
