Proposed budget is for looting, laundering money in smart way: Amir Khasru
Politics

BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said the proposed national budget is a smart one. It would be budget of looting and laundering billions of taka from the Bangladesh's banking sector in a 'smart way.'

In a reaction to the proposed budget of 2023-24 fiscal, he said on Thursday night that a budget should reflect the political thought of the government and at the same time, welfare of people. "But, those who are now in power are illegal power grabbers. Their budget won't reflect their political thought and welfare of people. Rather, their own thought would be reflected in the budget."

Amir Khasru was giving his reactions to reporters at his residence at Banani in the capital on Thursday afternoon.

Responding to a query of a reporter, Amir Khasru said the proposed budget is certainly a smart budget. "Which government or party people will be able to launder such billions of taka so smartly? They have looted the banks, operated syndicates and plundered people's money. In that way, the proposed budget is obviously a smart budget."

Amir Khasru said some 42 per cent of the country's population have become poor. Some 52 per cent of people in Dhaka have become poor due to the new model of 'Awami Economics." In fact, Awami League is getting benefited constantly, while the country's people are turning into poor. People's living standard is going down. They have adopted the tactics of taking out money from the public's pockets.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Bank has been printing thousands of crores of taka. The central bank is raising the dollar price in one hand and the dishonest traders are raising the prices of essentials.
