President Mohammed Shahabuddin has urged all, including the higher educational institutions, to work together to build a developed and enlightened 'Smart Bangladesh'.
In a message on the occasion of the 24th Convocation of North South University (NSU), the President, also the chancellor of all public and private universities, said the government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to ensuring quality education for overall development of the country.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating students of NSU, their parents, faculty members and university authority for their efforts and contributions on the occasion of the convocation.
Education is the most important key to development and prosperity of a nation, he said, adding that realizing the importance of education, the government has put topmost priority in expanding higher education, BSS reports.
To materialize the 'Vision-2041' declared by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government needs wholehearted support and contribution from all walks of lives, he said, adding that universities and all educational institutions have several vital responsibilities in imparting state of the art and quality education to prepare future leaders of the country imbued with patriotism, integrity and ethical values.
"I hope, NSU would give more efforts in nurturing critical thinking skills of students so that they can differentiate the right or wrong in their personal and social activities," he added.
About the fresh graduates, he said convocation is a solemn and purposeful landmark event of student life as it recognizes performances and hard work of both students and universities.
"I urge the students graduating today, to apply the knowledge they earned for the betterment of country and countrymen. I pray for their bright and successful future," he added.
The President wished the 24th Convocation of North South University a grand success.
