President Mohammed Shahabuddin today urged everyone to come forward, irrespective of party affiliations and opinions, to create public awareness at the grassroots level to control diabetes.
The President made this call when a delegation led by President of Bangladesh Diabetic Association National Professor AK Azad Khan
paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban.
Later, President's Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told newsmen in a briefing that the President appreciated the role of Bangladesh Diabetic Association in the treatment of diabetes nationwide.
The Head of the State emphasised on creating public awareness about diabetes treatment.
Noting that the government is working relentlessly to reach healthcare at people's doorsteps, the President said everyone should come forward along with the government to ensure universal healthcare.
During the meeting, the President was apprised of the overall activities of the Diabetic Association by the delegation.
Later, Bangladesh Ambassador to Lebanon Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanveer Khan paid a courtesy call on President.
During the meeting, the new ambassador sought the President's all-out cooperation and guidance in fulfilling his assignment.
The President directed the envoy to develop bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Lebanon as well as explore trade and investment opportunities.
President's Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salahuddin Islam and Secretary (Attachment) Md Wahidul Islam Khan were present.
