Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed all to maintain austerity. She has also urged all to ensure wise and effective use of government funds.
The premier made the call while charing an Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) meeting on Tuesday (17 January).
Planning Minister MA Mannan revealed the information while briefing the press after the meeting.
The minister said, "The prime minister has told us to maintain austerity but not stop spending completely.
"She has instructed us to make sure that the government funds are used in a very wise and effective manner."
Meanwhile, replying to a question from the reporters, State Minister for Planning Shamsul Alam said, "The premier also told us that we need to increase production and utilise every inch of land."
Previously, according to Ecnec, 11 project proposals were to be placed in the meeting which are roughly worth Tk10,710 crore.
