Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) arrested a passenger with 23 gold bars, weighing 2.7 kilograms (kg), at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Thursday.
The arrestee is identified as Mohammad Ziauddin of Enayetpur area of Hathazari in Chattogram.
Saifur Rahman, Joint Director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department, Chittagong, confirmed the matter.
Ziauddin arrived at the airport by a flight from Dubai in the morning, he said.
CIID officials detected presence of the gold after scanning his body. Later, the gold was seized, he added.
