Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three persons, including the prime accused, over torturing a National Board of Revenue (NBR) official after abducting her from Shiddeshwari in Dhaka.
The trio have been arrested from Gazipur's Sreepur and the city's Sabujbag area.
RAB legal and media wing's assistant director ANM Imran Khan confirmed this on Saturday morning.
On August 17, victim woman Masuma Khatun, who works as joint commissioner (Taxes) at NBR's Taxation Zone-2, was abducted from Ramna area while she was on way to her Sheddeshwari residence. Later, her husband Ilyas Khan filed a general diary with Ramna Police Station at night. He couldn't know the whereabout of his wife till 2pm on August 18.
After 2pm, the abductors went outside asking two of their associates to guard Masuma keeping her inside a car. In such a situation, Masuma came out of her captivity after long 18 hours and started shouting loudly seeking help from people to save her life. Hearing her shouting, people approached to her and rescued her.
A kidnap case has been filed with Ramna Police Station mentioning the name of four persons.
Following the filing of a case with Ramna Police Station by Masuma's husband, police learnt that the abduction was committed under the supervision of Masuma's former driver Masud. Police learnt that Masud is a member of an organised gang of abductors.
