Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque said all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will play in the first match against visiting Sri Lanka during their first Test at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium starting from Sunday.
Shakib was initially ruled out after being Covid-19 positive on last Tuesday but his report came negative.
Shakib joined the squad in Chittagong on Friday evening and also took part in the practice session on Saturday morning. Shakib batted in the nets for about half an hour but did not bowl.
He was looking confident while batting at the nets and looked comfortable.
Later in the press conference skipper Mominul informed to the media that Shakib will play in the first Test.
