Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the government is working hard to rescue the flood-affected people and provide necessary relief to them.
The premier made the remark during a press briefing on Wednesday at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the capital.
She said that Bangladesh is prone to natural disasters which cannot be stopped but the damage can be controlled.
“We live in a region where flooding happens quite often, which we have to keep in mind. We must prepare for that,” Hasina said.
The premier is speaking on the recent flood situation in the country and the June 25 inauguration of the Padma Bridge.
She visited the flood-affected Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona and adjacent areas on Tuesday.
The premier witnessed the flood situation for herself as the helicopter carrying her hovered over the affected areas maintaining the "low fly mode".
