Country's business community leaders have demanded of the government to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity in the wake of price hike of gas used in captive power plants and commercial sectors.
Addressing a press conference at the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) auditorium at Motijheel in the capital on Saturday, the trade body's president Barrister Md Samir Sattar said the government often increases the price of gas used in industries, power plants and commercial sectors through executive orders.
In spite of the gas price hike, he said the industry owners did not receive uninterrupted supply of gas which has widespread impact on production and supply of goods. Because of it, despite the price hike of gas, apprehension still remains.
He demanded of uninterrupted supply of gas as per the requirement of industries and factories.
The press conference was also addressed by DCCI's senior vice-president SM Golam Faruque Alamgir.
