The government has appointed Fatima Yasmin as the Secretary to the Finance Division.

Fatima Yasmin, who was previously served as Secretary to the Economic Relations Division (ERD), was promoted to the position of senior secretary on Thursday (June 16, 2022).

This promotion will be effective from July 11, according to a gazette notification issued by the Public Administration Ministry.

Fatima Yasmin, a career civil servant, joined the ERD as Secretary on February 23, 2020. She was the first female secretary of the ERD.

Earlier, she served as vice-chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) under the Ministry of Commerce and director general of the Institute of Public Finance (IPF) under the Ministry of Finance.

She joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1991.

Fatima Yasmin did Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) of Dhaka University. Later, she did post-graduation in Development Economics from Australian National University joining the government service.

She worked for various ministries including the Finance Division and Economic Relations Division of the finance ministry and the ministries of agriculture, women and children affairs and defence.

She also worked for ERD for a substantial period with the World Bank, United Nations, Asian Development Bank, and Islamic Development Bank.
