The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has decided to raid the capital's residential hotels and student messes in a bid to ensure security ahead of the Padma Bridge inauguration and Ratha Yatra.
DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam made the disclosure during the unit's monthly crime review meeting in Dhaka on Sunday.
The DMP commissioner said that all concerned should be vigilant to prevent any untoward incident including extortion of cattle market on the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha. On this occasion, the places where cattle markets will be set up will have to fulfill their responsibilities with utmost importance, he added.
He said, “Most of the complaints received by the police are cyber crime related. Therefore, the crime meeting of DMP has asked to take necessary steps to control cyber crime. Besides, instructions have been given to work to prevent motorcycle theft.”
The DMP Commissioner awarded the best police officers at the monthly crime review meeting in recognition of their good work in maintaining law and order and public safety in the Dhaka metropolis.
