Barishal Correspondent: A team of the Detective Branch (DB) Police in Barishal has seized 66 kilograms of cannabis during a special anti-narcotics operation. The estimated market value of the recovered drugs is approximately Tk 3.96 million.
According to police sources, the operation was conducted on June 9 at a room on the second floor of a densely populated two-story tin-shed building located in Kader Mohuri Lane, adjacent to the rear wall of the Shilpakala Academy in the KDC Balu Math area under Kotwali Model Police Station.
During the raid, law enforcement officers recovered 66 kilograms of cannabis from the premises. Local residents reported that the suspected drug traffickers managed to flee after sensing the presence of the police.
The operation was carried out under the directive of the Commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police and under the overall supervision of the Deputy Commissioner (DB). Inspector Md. Chogir Hossain led the DB team during the raid.
Legal action has been initiated against the accused under Sections 36(1), Schedule 19(g)/41 of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018. Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest the absconding suspects, who are reportedly involved in several previous narcotics-related cases.
