At least 13 people have, so far, been killed in different parts of the country due to the impact of cyclonic storm Sitrang

Of the decease, three died in Cumilla, three in Bhola, two in Sirajganj, two in Gopalganj, one in Narail, Barguna and Dhaka respectively.

Most of the casualties were caused by trees uprooted during the cyclone as it lashed the country with high winds and heavy rains.

In Dhaka, a rickshaw-puller and a motorcyclist were injured after the brick railing on the rooftop of a four-storey building collapsed on Maneshwar Road at Jigatola

Locals rescued the two and took them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared the rickshaw puller dead.

In Cumilla, three members of a family were killed after tree fell on their house at Nangalkot upazila on Monday night.

Deceased Nizam Uddin, his wife Shathi Akhter and daughter Liza Akhter were the residents of Hesakhal Pashim Para.

In Bhola, three persons died after tree and a tin-shed house fell on them in different places at Sadar upazila during the storm.

The deceased were Mafizul, Monir, 30, and Bibi Khadiza, 80.

In Narail, a woman named Morjina Begum, 40, died after a tree branch fell on him at Lohagara upazila.

In Barguna, an elderly woman named Amena Khatun died after a tree fell on her house in Sonakhali area under Sadar Upazila while she was taking her dinner at 8pm.

In Sirajganj, a woman and her son died after a boat sank in the Jamuna River in East Mohanpur area of Sirajganj Sadar upazila during the storm.

The deceased were Ayesha Khatun, 28, wife of Khokon, and her son Arafat Hossain, 2.

In Gopalganj, two women died after trees fell on them in separate places at Tungipara upazila on Monday night during the storm, caused by cyclone Sitrang.

Wife of Rezul Kahn, deceased Sarmin Begum, 25, was a resident of Panchkahania village; and Romesa Begum, 58, wife of Hannan Talukder, was a resident of Bashbaria Charpara village.
