BNP's gayebana janaza held at its Nayapaltan party office in the capital as part of countrywide programme.

The  janaza was held at 11am where BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committe member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Nazrul Islam Khan, vice-chairman Maj (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Metropolitan North convener Amanullah Aman, among others, took part.

After the janaza, Mirza Fakhrul said, "The blood of Abdur Rahim, a Swecchhasebak Dal activist who was shot by the police in Bhola, will not go in vain. The movement should be accelerated by transforming the mourning into strength."

BNP called the gayebana janaza in protest against the killing of a Swecchasebak Dal activist in police firing in Bhola on Sunday (July 31).

On Sunday, Bhola district BNP brought out a procession from the district BNP office premises at Mohajanpatti area on Sunday morning in protest against nationwide load-shedding of power and mismanagement in energy distribution.

Clash broke out with the BNP leaders and activists when police intercepted the procession. Later, police lobbed teargas shells and fired rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.

Police and witnesses said at least 50 people including Bhola Sadar Model Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC Investigation) Arman Hossain were injured during the clash. A Swecchhasebak Dal activist, identified as Abdur Rahim, was killed as police opened fire during the clash, while 20 others got bullet ridden.
