Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP acting member secretary Tanveer Ahmed Robin and 11 of his associates have been arrested.
They were arrested from the capital's Nightingale intersection on Saturday night.
DMP joint commissioner for DB (north) Khandaker Nurunnabi confirmed the arrest news on Sunday at a press briefing held at the DMP media centre.
Rabin is son of BNP's commerce affairs secretary Salahuddin Ahmed.
"Rabin is accused in number of cases. He will be produced in a court showing him arrested in a case," DMP commissioner said.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rahul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday night at an emergency press conference alleged that Rabin was 'picked up' by DB police.
