A Bangladeshi man has been shot dead and two more injured at the Chapainawabganj border.

The incident was reported from the Shingnagar border in Shibganj Upazila late on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Shariful Islam Bhadra, the son of Kajuruddin from Monakasha Union.

Two more people--- Wahedur Rahman and Babu--- were also injured after being shot.

Locals said that the three were shot by Indian Border security forces while illegally bringing cattle from the other side of the border.

They said that around 12 people crossed the border on Tuesday night to bring cattle.

Around midnight, Daulatpur Camp BSF members fired at them while returning.

Monakasha Union ward member Serajul Islam said that the Shariful’s body is currently inside Bangladeshi territory at the zero line of the border.

Border Guard Bangladesh-53 Battalion chief Lt Col Nahid said that they have heard of the matter from locals and were looking into it.
