3 killed as private car hits electric pole in Dhaka's Nawabganj

Three people were killed after a private car carrying them hit a roadside electric pole at Nawabganj upazila in Dhaka district early Sunday.

The deceased were Abul Kashem, 50, his granddaughter Farhana, 8, and Monir Khan Billal, 35. They hailed from of Raipara area of Dohar upazila in the district.

Police said Abul Kashem went to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to receive his son-in-law by a rented car. The driver of the private car lost control over the steering and hit a roadside electric pole near Paragon Hospital in Bagmara area at around 5:00 am while returning home.

The accident left Kashem and Farahana dead on the spot and Kashem's daughter Rekha, son-in-law Lavlu and driver Billal seriously injured.

They were sent to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
