After a 5 year hiatus, Jaya Ahsan and Kolkata's famous filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee are working together on his film “Dawsham Awbotaar”.

Reportedly Subhashree Ganguly was his first choice for leading actress in the film however due to her recent pregnancy scheduling conflicts arose.

Explaining his choice to recruit Jaya for the film, Srijit said, “Firstly, Jaya has the time to dedicate to shooting right now. Second, her acting skills. Third, her performances in the last few years. If we look at her career graph, be it 'Robibaar' or 'Binisutoy', or 'Ardhangini' her work has been immeasurably appreciated.”

Upon being questioned whether Jaya Ahsan had not been the first choice for the film because of past rumours of a romantic relationship between the duo, he clarified, “No, this thought didn't even cross my mind. This time around too, we will probably hear rumours about us. These things should be taken as a professional irony. I've learned to take these things in a stride. If one doesn't, it's not possible to survive this profession.”

The shooting for the movie is scheduled to start soon. Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya and Jisshu Sengupta are reported to be starring in the film as well.

Jaya was last seen in the movie 'Ardhangini' produced by Kaushik Ganguly. The June 2 release was a hit with audiences and is still playing at several theatres in Kolkata.
