Director General (DG) of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) M Khurshid Hossain said the elite anti crime forces are always ready to face any challenges to establish peace in the country.
“We want to continue the development of our country. We are ready to face any challenge,” he told the journalists after paying rich tributes to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at 32 Dhanmondi in the city.
The RAB DG said that we are maintaining zero tolerance against the terrorists and drugs, adding, “The RAB will always uphold the human rights.”
Responding to a question about snatching of two death row militants from the court premises, he said there was a "lack of coordination".
Regarding the issue Khurshid said, “There was a failure of our (law enforcement agencies) forces in the case of abducting two militants from the court premises.”
He said that everyone was supposed to have a coordination with the police, adding, “But don't just blame the police alone. There was a lack of coordination.”
Replying to another question about a sanction on RAB, the RAB Chief said there will not be any problem in carrying out the election duties.
“We have replied with evidence of some officials of the RAB. In that case, there is no hindrance in our work,” he added.
Khurshid said there is a possibility to withdraw the restriction, as some fake and baseless information was disseminated.
He said now they are satisfied with the evidences, which were provided. The RAB DG further said that those who had given the ban are now praising the role of the RAB.
He said during the election time, the law enforcers will be under the Election Commission’s control. “All parties will participate in the next elections. We will carry out the main responsibility to ensure free and fair election,” he said.
“Appropriate action has been taken against RAB members whoever he or she commits crime. RAB is not only looks after the law and order situation but also deals with humanitarian issues,” he said.
Spokesperson of the RAB-Director Legal and Media Wing Commander Khandaker Al Moin and senior officers were present during the homage.
The RAB DG paid tributes to Bangabandhu's portrait after getting the status of Grade-1 in the service.
