Samsuzzaman Shams, a Savar correspondent of the national daily Prothom Alo, was picked up from his home in Savar by members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in plainclothes early Wednesday, according to the newspaper report.
Samsuzzaman house is at Aambagan area near Jahangirnagar University (JU).
Two witnesses including a local journalist said three vehicles carrying 14-15 people stopped in front of Samsuzzaman's house around 4am.
Of them, seven to eight people got out of the vehicle and entered the house. One searched Samsuzzaman Shams' bedroom and took away his laptop, two mobile phone sets and a portable hard disk. After 10-15 minutes, the team also took Samsuzzaman to JU's Battala area.
A local journalist said the CID team alongwith Samsuzzaman returned home for a second time and listed the seized valuables. Then Shams was asked to take his clothes. At that time, they also took his photo. They went out again from the house within 5-7 minutes.
JU's chief security officer Sudipta Shaheen was present at the scene.
