Kamarul Islam Rashed, a student in the Dhaka University Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, has allegedly been beaten by another student. Al Sadi Bhuiyan, the accused, is employed by online news portal 'Jagoo News' as a campus representative for Dhaka University.

Last Thursday night, a beating took place in the university's TSC area. The victim then reported the incident to Shahbag police station, naming the student Al Sadi and two other people.

He stated in the case application, "We went to eat fuchka at Sarakdwip of TSC on Thursday evening. The fuchka vendor mistreated me and friends of mine. At one point, Al Sadi Bhuiyan showed up there interrupting the attempt to remove the unlawful fuchka shop from the campus. We and Sadi got into a disagreement in the meanwhile, with Sadi siding with fuchka vendor."

At one stage Sadi called 4/5 of his friends from his hall and beat Rashed twice. His friends rescued Rashed from the scene and took him to Dhaka Medical Hospital. There he was given first aid.

Rashed, the victim added, "I had a fight with fuchka vendor. At one time, we were getting ready to go. At one point, Sadi came and I was ambushed by three or four other friends of him. Many others tried to stop them but were unsuccessful. They continually attacked me. I seek retribution for this assault."

"I'll lodge a complaint to the university proctor as well as the president and general secretary of the Dhaka University Journalists Association this afternoon", he declared.

When Al Sadi Bhuiyan was called to inquire about this, the phone was discovered to be off.

In this aspect, University Proctor Dr. AKM Golam Rabbani stated, "I now know the situation. Dhaka University students' intolerant behavior is not at all acceptable. In this regard, I have not yet received any written complaint. If complaint is received, something will be done."

Regarding the case, the duty officer of Shahbag police station said, "We have accepted the application of the case. Further action will be taken subject to investigation."
