A workshop on "Yellow Journalism and Ethical Practices of Journalists" was organized at the National Media Institute on September 17, 2023.The event took place in the institute's conference hall, with the distinguished journalist and media personality, Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, serving as the keynote presenter. The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Noorun Nahar Hena, the Director General (Additional Secretary) of the National Media Institute.

A total of 70 representatives from both print and electronic media, including officials from departments under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, participated in the workshop.

During the workshop, Noorun Nahar Hena, the Director General (Additional Secretary) of the National Institute Mass-Communication, discussed the detrimental effects of yellow journalism within the context of Bangladesh. He emphasized the paramount importance of journalists upholding ethical responsibilities and advocated for the practice of fair journalism in Bangladesh. Additionally, he highlighted the significance of providing proper training for ethical journalism.

The discussion was moderated by Maruf Nawaz, the Director of the institute's training programs, with Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul as the main discussant. They delved into various topics, including the nature of yellow journalism and the ethical conduct expected from journalists, emphasizing the sensitivity surrounding yellow journalism.

Other participants included Faizul Haque, the Additional Director General of the National Institute Mass-Communication, along with Nazrul Islam, Director (Training Engineering), and A. K. M. Azizul Haque, Director (Administration & Development). The workshop was overseen by Sumna Parveen, the Deputy Director (TV Program Training) at the National Media Institute, and coordinated by Saifunnahar, the Assistant Director (Mass Communication Training).

The workshop also witnessed the participation of various individuals, includingPIBJAA's President Advocate Ruhi, Vice President Dr. Dipu Siddiqui,General Secretary Dr. Rabin Sarkar, Publicity Secretary,Rabiul Islam, Social Welfare Secretary Md Tarqeque uzzaman, and EC member MR Mamun, Buddha Deb Kundu,Soumitra Dev, Smriti Chakraborty,Mrittunjay and others.
