Police have arrested two doctors of Central Hospital in the capital's Green Road area over 'wrong treatment' allegation.

The doctors are Dr Shahjadi and Dr Munna.

Confirming the arrest news, Dhanmondi Police Station OC Md Parvez Islam said a case was filed on Wednesday bringing allegation of death of a newborn due to negligence. Following the case file, the doctors were arrested.

But there was not mentioned Dr Sangjukta Saha's name as she was abroad, the OC added.

Arrested two were sent to court.

Victim patient Mahbuba Rahman Ankhi's husband Yakub Ali Sumon alleged that his wife has been fighting for life, while their newborn child died on Wednesday due to the doctors' negligence at the hospital, it was learnt.

Mahbuba has been taking treatment under Dr Sangjukta Saha, Obs. and Gynae Specialist, for the last three months due to her pregnancy. Her overall health condition was good and Dr Sangjukta assured her of normal delivery.

Around 12:50am on June 9, Mahbuba was admitted to the hospital with labour pain. At that time, Dr Sangjukta was not present at the hospital. But the hospital sources said she was in hospital and was working at OT.

Later, due to their negligence, the couple's newborn child died. And Muahmuda was later shifted to Labaid Hospital in critical condition.
