Nayeem double strike in first session does the trick

Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan bowled well on the first day and produced two breakthroughs in the first session Sunday and the youngster gave Bangladesh the edge again Monday morning.

Pace bowling duo Shariful Islam and Khaled Ahmed could not ask enough questions to experienced Lankan pair Angleo Mathews and Dinesh Chandimal.

Both the batsmen played the Tigers pace bowlers quite comfortably and they built a solid partnership of 136 runs for the fifth wicket.

But Nayeem gave Bangladesh the desired wicket in the 114th over as Chandimal (66) was trapped in front while trying to play an audacious reverse sweep.

New batsman Niroshan Dickwella (three) survived just three deliveries as he was cleaned up while trying to cut in that same over against Nayeem.

From a comfortable position and solid partnership, suddenly Sri Lanka were caught off guard and the momentum of the innings shifted towards Bangladesh.

Just three overs later Shakib al Hasan also took two wickets from Sri Lanka’s tail-end and Bangladesh were on top at that moment.

Credit goes to Nayeem as his double strike helped Bangladesh to come back strongly.
