President of Mauritius Prithvirajsing Roopun reached in Dhaka on Thursday morning on a four-day tour.

This is the first visit of a President of Mauritius in Dhaka.

He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:40 am. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque welcomed him at the airport.

The President of Mauritius will attend the sixth Indian Ocean Conference in Dhaka during the tour. He will meet with President Mohammed Shahabuddin. He will also visit Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, Liberation War Museum and Dhakeshwari Temple in Dhaka.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed are scheduled to pay a courtesy call on him.

The 6th Indian Ocean Conference will be held in Dhaka on 12-13 May to discuss how the countries of the Indian Ocean region can promote economic development while maintaining peace and stability.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference with the theme "Peace, prosperity and partnership for a resilient future".

Over 25 ministers, state ministers or deputy ministers of different countries including Mauritian President Prithvirajsing Roopun, Maldivian Vice President Faisal Naseem, and Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are scheduled to participate in the conference jointly organized by the Bangladeshi foreign ministry and the India Foundation, a research institute affiliated to the Indian external affairs ministry.
